IntelliGENETICS is accredited by ASCLD/LAB for forensic testing of criminal evidence including contact DNA, also known as touch DNA.  Forensic DNA testing is also used in solving cold cases, ethnicity DNA testing and race DNA testing.

Our forensic service can generate a DNA profile in no-suspect cases as well and calculate the likely race of the individual.  In some cases knowledge of the race of the perpetrator can aid investigators in their search for the offender saving valuable resources.  Racial estimates can also be useful in cold cases .

Criminal Paternity and Maternity

Unidentified human remains present a special challenge to most forensic laboratories, whether it be a decomposing body in a shallow grave or in a body of water or an abandoned baby or fetal remains.  Identification of these types of remains usually requires a maternity or paternity test or sibling analysis to make the identification.  These types of cases are forensic by definition but they also require a non-forensic family study (paternity, maternity, sibship).  Each requires special expertise and very few forensic laboratories have the expertise or the accreditation to perform family studies.  But IntelliGENETICS is uniquely qualified in both forensics and parentage.  Forensic testing requires forensic accreditation which IntelliGENETICS has (ASCLD/LAB) and parentage and family studies requires AABB (Americká asociácia krvných bánk) accreditation which IntelliGENETICS also carries.  Very few forensic laboratories are AABB accredited.  If there are no known family members to compare then IntelliGENETICS can obtain a DNA profile from the unidentfied body suitable for upload and comparison to the National Missing Persons Database.
