Monitoring Sexual Activity
As a concerned parent you may be interested in knowing if your children are sexually active. IntelliGENETICS can assist you in monitoring your children just as we do for spouses and partners that have become suspicious of their significant other or perhaps just to put their mind at ease.
Seminal fluid (semen) released by the male during sexual contact may continue to be expelled for several hours after the sexual encounter. Post-intercourse discharge of seminal fluid from the vaginal tract of a female also occurs for several hours. Therefore, following sexual intercourse, semen stains can be found in undergarments, bed sheets, towels, sanitary napkins and other items and surfaces. These facts are the basis for this test offered by IntelliGENETICS. Results are usually available within 1 business day of sample receipt.
Detecting semen on an item may be all that is needed to answer your question. However, if you also need to know whose semen it is or whose semen it is not, then IntelliGENETICS can perform DNA testing to match (or exclude) one or more individuals. Please refer to Forensic Testing and the Educational Forum for more information about DNA testing.
