Seminal fluid (semen) released by the male during sexual contact may continue to be expelled for several hours after the sexual encounter.  Post-intercourse discharge of seminal fluid from the vaginal tract of a woman also occurs for several hours.  Therefore, following sexual intercourse, semen stains can be found in undergarments, bed sheets, towels, women’s sanitary napkins and other items and surfaces. These facts are the basis for the infidelity test offered by IntelliGenetics.

Detecting semen on an item may be all that is needed to answer your Question.
